Computers

Trinity School encourages the use of computers to expand the educational experience of our students by providing a tool information management and processing system.  We have a fully equipped computer lab with 24 new Dell computers (all of which are internet accessible), a computer server, and printers.  All students in K-4 through the sixth grade receive organized computer instruction twice weekly in addition to the opportunity to use the computer as part of the daily classroom routine.  Instructional goals include basic computer skills, classroom curriculum reinforcement, and individual lessons  with our new Orchard software program.  We also have a network of  iMac and eMac computers that enables  the students to participate  in the Accelerated Reader program  from the individual classroom setting.   These computers are accessible daily at the discretion of the classroom teacher.

Library

The Josephine Kenney Library of Trinity Episcopal School serves the students, parents, faculty and staff in many different ways through its completely automated system allowing broad interfacing of extensive knowledge.  The library program encourages each student to read and provides proper materials required to complete research projects as assigned by the teachers.  Students learn proper care of books and responsibility for their safe return.

Each classroom visits the library once a week and focuses on their grade appropriate skills ranging from proper library etiquette, reading and listening to stories, and developing library terminology usage and research skills.

Yearly, every class participates in the Book Fair which promotes an individual appreciation for reading and helps maintain the effectiveness and growth of Trinity's library.

An optional self-development program offered through the library is Accelerated Reader.  It combines reading and self-testing through the use of a computer program and a reward system.

Music

Trinity's music curriculum is designed with the purpose of teaching developmental concepts through sequential study of the elements of music -- rhythm, melody, harmony, form and tone color.  Conceptual learning is introduced and reinforced through lessons which incorporate one or all of the elements listed above.

At Trinity, we seek to illustrate and express the qualities of music.  This goal is sought and accomplished through a series of singing games and stories for voice exploration.  We both create and use existing stories for this purpose.  This concept is begun and continued throughout all grades.

The students work on a musical production which is presented at Christmas every year using singing and drama.  They learn about all aspects of production during this time including costuming, set design and construction, stage direction, choreography, lighting and sound.

Students also perform choral pieces in chapel from time to time during the school year.

Physical Education

All grade levels attend physical education class weekly.  The goals in Trinity's P.E. classes are to promote the importance of physical activity in developing a healthy live-style, to directly relate the concept of "healthy mind in a healthy body," and to encourage children to set goals for themselves toward a high level of achievement.  Also important is to teach effective attitudes and values such as sharing, taking turns, fairness, concern for others, good sportsmanship and fun.

Art

Trinity K-4 through 6th grades attend scheduled art classes appropriate to the ages.  Emphasis is exposure to creativity through painting, drawing, clay sculpting, collage, photography, poetry, theatre, and much more.  All subjects are integrated into the arts program.

In addition to arts in the Trinity curriculum, we have been fortunate the last few years to receive "Arts in Education Mini-Grants" offered  by the Arkansas Arts Council. Quality, professional artists are brought  into the classroom to work with the teacher and students for 1-2 weeks.  Applications for the 06/07 school year have been submitted and we look forward to hearing Trinity will again be a recipient.

Religion

Trinity Episcopal School holds chapel services each week on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.  These services are open to parents, other family members and friends, as well as Trinity Church parishioners.  The religious program is steeped in the Episcopal tradition, but not exclusive of the faith experience of others.  We encourage the diversity of tradition that is our student body.  Religion should be a living and exciting part of the spiritual formation of each child.

Wednesday chapel services are interactive with the sixth grade students as the leaders, supported by the Headmaster, teachers, and administration. Special prayers are offered at this service for the sick and in thanksgiving of students' birthdays.  Awards and special recognitions are also a part of Wednesday chapel.
